now it is again a pure financial thriller with the money markets
to bring the US dollar to collapse with an economic machination
using the threat prevailing with the third world debt

>> p. 9 the problem of the third world debt,
espc. in respect of Venezuela, Brazil and Mexico
>> p. 21 the dirty money coming into Swiss banks
which allow these Swiss banks to lend it at very low rates at home
(particularly for the mortgage rates)
>> again mr. Erdman is not very friendly wth Switzerland
>> p. 27 the Swiss National bank is not a commercial bank

>> p. 35 the IMF (International Money Fund),
the obedient servant of the USA, could blackmail
the Latin American countries by refusing to arrange
a moratorium and lending new money
>> p. 43 the directness (in business discussions) of the Swiss gnomes (?)
>> p. 53 mention of Carlos, the terrorist

>> p. 62 the Badischer Bahnhof, a German territorial enclave
in the city of Basle where the nazis in 1930
used to hold Hitlerjugend meetings for Swiss boys

>> p. 67 description of Basle and its origin:
wealth from the Huguenots (= French protestants) and the papacy
(the Basle university was endowed by the papacy
after the council of Basel in 1451)

>> p. 102 the Russian "Mensch" (an offspring of Gorbachev?)
>> p. 151 in the late 1988's, the USA had become
the world's most hatred country
>> p. 156 already the huge separation bonus
taken by US managers (the golden parachutes)

>> p. 195 the social position of Swiss women,
particularly in the banking system
>> p. 208 "don't fuck around with Swiss banks"

>> p. 214 the Palestinian suicid squad

>> p. 306 the Americans finally succeeded in reversing the course of events,
Latin America was again at their feet, the suicid squad annihilated
and the Swiss banker had shot himself

God - together with Reagan and Gorbachev -
had saved America again

>> this time a relatively good novel combining
financial gambit with action, espc. with the plot
against the USA by disorganizing the money markets
is well imagined and remains still today of actuality

however Paul Meyer is no longer Frank Rogers
>> see page 117
and the crash of 79 has nothing to do with the panic of 89
